Stussy clothing is original streetwear influenced by a wide range of cultural influences. Stussy founder Shawn Stussy began his creative career as a surfboard shaper. He added eye-catching graphics to his boards, drawing inspiration from reggae, hip-hop, punk and new wave. Shawn's first clothing designs were simple T-shirts to promote his boards. The shirts bore his last name in a distinctive handwriting: the now iconic Stussy logo. This logo can now be found on many Stussy jumpers, Stussy jackets and Stussy T-shirts. In addition to this instantly recognisable logo, Stussy distinguishes itself with striking graphics, for which the brand draws inspiration from music, pop culture, surfing, and skateboarding. As one of the founders of streetwear, Stussy deserves credit for introducing many garments to the street scene. For example, Stussy was the first clothing brand to bring varsity jackets and baseball caps to the streets, items that until then were only worn on and around the sports field. The Stussy bucket hat is another typical example. The round hats that used to be worn mainly by painters and fishermen, were promoted by Stussy to true streetwear classics.
