Snowboard boots are often seen as an afterthought when buying a snowboard set. People are often focused on a fat snowboard and matching bindingsThe shoes come later. What many people don't know is that the right snowboard boots are at least as important for a successful snowboarding trip. Good snowboard boots give you maximum control over your snowboard, keep your feet warm and dry and protect your ankles and feet against all the forces that are exerted on them. Of course, it can ruin your snowboarding fun if your feet are cold, sodden or sore after only two hours on the slopes. At Revert 95, we only have snowboard boots that meet these criteria. Still, you should keep a few things in mind when buying a new pair of boots. Although it may seem obvious, it is of the utmost importance that your boots fit well. If your boots are too big, you can get heel lift, which means that your heels come up on your toe side during turns. This results in less direct board control and can cause cramp in your calves and feet. Make sure your feet fit well, but don't buy snowboard boots that are too small. A good rule of thumb is that your toes should just be able to touch the front. If they are closer to the front, your feet will get sore and/or cold; if they are too far away, they can get very sticky. As you can see, it's all quite tricky. The good news is that the liners of a lot of snowboard boots will mold to your feet after heating, which gives you a better, custom fit. In our shop, we can heat up the liner for you, so you can experience the fit right away.
Freeride or freestyle snowboard boots
When you go shopping for a fresh pair of boots, you should also think about what you're going to use them for the most. Just like with snowboards and bindings, there is a difference between freestyle, freeride and all-mountain boots. Freeride boots are stiffer and give you support when you make big turns in the backcountry. Freestyle boots are slightly more flexible and give you freedom of movement for jibbing and tweaking jumps. All-mountain models are somewhere in between and are suitable for ripping all over the mountain.
