Parra is the clothing label of Amsterdam-based artist and skateboarder Pieter 'Parra' Janssen (1976). Parra's work is characterised by flowing lines, bold colours, vivid letters and surreal, hybrid figures (think: women with beaks). His unique post-pop art is celebrated and exhibited in chic galleries all over the world, but also touches a nerve on the street. For those people who would rather wear a work of art than hang one on the wall, By Parra was created. The brand originated from Janssen's successful cult label Rockwell. To make the link with the artist clearer, By Parra was added to the brand name. Not much later, the name Rockwell silently disappeared from the scene. Apart from the brand name, fortunately, everything remains the same: Parra's enigmatic, often humorous, always recognisable graphics are still the basis for high-quality clothing and accessories. Parra also has its own skateboard brand: Tired.
