Madrid began when Jerry Madrid started shaping skateboards in the late 1960s to keep busy when the waves of southern california were not good enough for surfing. It was in his parents' garage that the first modern concaves were sent into the market and some iconic collabs were created in the 80s, including the Madrid x Valterra Skateboard ridden by Marty McFly in the original Back to the Future movie, and the Vans x Madrid Fly Shoe, the first Vans colaab. Now the brand is back again thanks to the Netflix television series Stranger Things.
