Flannels are shirts that are as comfortable as they are stylish. This particular type of button-down shirt is named after flannel, a fabric - usually cotton - that is woven in a particular way and feels ultra-soft. In many cases, this is further enhanced by brushing the loosely woven fabric. Thanks to its soft and practical wearing characteristics, the flannel has long been popular among people who spend a lot of time outdoors. Think of lumberjacks, with whom the chequered flannel is inextricably linked. But the flannel shirt is also incredibly popular in the city. The flannel, often with a classic check pattern, has a casual look that can be combined with almost any outfit. Streetwear brands like Dickies and Obey put their own twist on the time-honoured checkered version, making this classic piece of workwear ready for the future.
