Revert 95 is the online Burton Snowboards shop of the Benelux. If there is one brand that is connected to the development of snowboarding, it is Burton. Burton Snowboards was founded in 1977 by Jake Burton Carpenter and is one of the oldest snowboard brands still existing. The brand was the source of many developments and is the number one choice of many of the world's best riders. Even today, Burton is still leading the way, whether it's about bags and snowboard clothing or snowboards, snowboard boots and bindings. Burton can rightly be called the godfather of the snowboard family.

Burton snowboards The Custom and the Fish have been part of the Burton line for years, but Burton prefers to look to the future rather than the past. No matter how many revolutionary innovations Burton has made, the brand is always looking for the next improvement. A good example is The Channel, a mounting system that offers endless stance options. Another recent invention is Nug Raduction, an optimized board design that makes it possible to ride these snowboards 10 percent shorter than your old board. The history of Burton

Jake Burton Carpenter (he usually omits the latter name after his studies) was born in 1954 in New York. From childhood, he has loved skiing, although he does not like the clunky plastic shoes and ski poles. In 1968, Jake receives a Snurfer for Christmas, the archetypal version of the modern snowboard. Jake is immediately hooked; he loves the fact that he can wear comfortable shoes and doesn't have to hold ski poles. Still, he thinks the Snurfer can do a lot better. After studying economics, he moved to Londonderry, Vermont, in 1977. In an old garage, he built the Backhill, a narrow board with single strap bindings and a rope at the tip; the first Burton snowboard. That first year, he sold 300 boards, just enough to pay all the bills. A year later, Burton sells 1000 boards and Jake has run out of savings. Jake is still convinced that snowboarding is the most fun you can have in the snow (he wrote in a Burton brochure in 1978), but realises that his company can hardly grow as long as ski resorts don't allow snowboarders. He started actively campaigning and in 1982, Suicide Six in Vermont was the first resort to welcome snowboarders. The area also hosted the first national snowboard championships, a competition that would later become the US Open. Burton takes the title with team rider Doug Bouton. In the years that follow, Burton is doing very well. The innovations follow each other in record time and the product line expands further and further. In 1987, the Burton collection consisted of snowboards, boots, bindings with highbacks, a backcountry backpack, hiking gear and snowboard clothing. Oh yeah, in the meantime a video is recorded and Burton introduces the word 'shred' in its corporate literature. The list of innovations that follow is too long to list in this article, but includes twin tip shapes, bindings with 3D pattern (that give you infinite stance options), capstraps and The Channel. The common thread is that Burton strives to make the best snowboard gear in the world, as Jake stated in an interview in 1992 seven (7!) times in a row. No wonder that the best snowboarders from the past and present chose Burton, including snowboard icons like Terje Haakonsen, Craig Kelly, Kelly Clark and Shaun White. Today, Burton is still innovating and Jake's search for ways to improve snowboards, started in 1977, is still going on. This is emphasised by the opening of Craig's in 2012. Craig's is a new research and development facility named after Craig Kelly, Burton's most influential rider and designer ever, who was killed in an avalanche in 2003.

Revert 95 has one of the largest collections of Burton snowboards, bindings, boots and snowboard clothing in the Netherlands and even in Europe. Besides the regular collections, we also sell the limited Burton Restricted collection, that you can only find in specialised snowboard shops.
