WasteBoards Skateboards

WasteBoards skateboards
Wasteboards is a unique and Dutch skateboard brand. In short, Wasteboards makes handmade skateboards out of plastic waste.

Background WasteBoards
Based on the philosophy that plastic waste is not just waste, the founders started WasteBoards in Amsterdam. Before Wasteboards, the men were already known from another unique project: Plastic Whale. You may be familiar with this project from the media. This initiative aims to drastically reduce the 'plastics soup' in the sea by using innovative means and inventions. Now that this project is going super well, they have started WasteBoards. With WasteBoards, they want to inspire us that plastic is much more than just a plastic water bottle that you throw away after use. It is much more than that! Plastic is valuable and reusing the existing (plastic) raw materials reduces the burden on the environment.

WasteBoards Bakery
At large music festivals, Wateboards will be present with the 'Bakery'. In this 'bakery', plastic bottles are collected, separated, sorted and then melted down to make a skateboard deck. A unique process which makes every skate deck different. No two decks are the same. Watch the 'making-of' below because it speaks much more than we are going to write it down for you.

No two skateboards are the same
The skate decks consist of melted plastic caps collected from the Amsterdam canals and music festivals. By melting the caps in a mould, you get a unique design. This depends on, for example, which colours of plastic (caps) are used. After the plastic has hardened, the trucks and wheels are attached and the skateboard is ready to roll. Easy as that! But you just have to think of it!
