HUF has grown from a small boutique in San Francisco to one of the go-to clothing brands for skateboarders and fans of skate-culture-inspired streetwear. HUF founder Keith Hufnagel grew up skateboarding on the streets of New York City. In 1992, he moved to San Francisco to pursue his dream of becoming a professional skater. Shortly after, Keith turned pro, which gave him the unique opportunity to travel the world on his skateboard . In addition to his skateboarding experience, Keith has always been open to the world. He blended the cultural inspiration he found during his travels with influences from skating, music, and popular culture. With this vision, Keith opened the first HUF store in San Francisco in 2002.
On September 24, 2020, Keith Hufnagel passed away at the age of 46 from a brain tumor. His loss is immense in the skate world, but Keith leaves behind a brand that everyone in the community respects. The brand is now in good hands, although the iconic shoes are no longer produced. In return, the brand has focused more on apparel. In 2021, HUF proved itself with unique collections in collaboration with smaller artists like Steven Harrington and major artists like Miles Davis .
HUF Skateboarding
HUF was one of the first shops to bring together hard-to-find streetwear brands, sneakers, and skateboarding brands under one roof. Motivated by the shop's popularity and rapid growth, Keith decided to launch his own label. Today, HUF creates original and high-quality clothing, shoes , and skateboarding products . Keith Hufnagel has sadly passed away, but the brand remains a skate brand at heart. The clothing features unique collaborations and experiments outside of skateboarding, but skateboarding remains central. For example, HUF regularly collaborates with Thrasher Magazine and other big names and brands in the skateboarding scene.
