Stussy is the founder of street fashion and the traditional favourite of cool people from different subcultures; from skaters to rappers, punks, club kids and DJs. We've been selling Stussy in our skate shop since day one, and the brand has become a permanent fixture at Revert 95.
Shawn stussy & Stussy logo
Around 1980, Shawn Stussy worked as a surfboard shaper in California. His boards quickly became known throughout California. Not only for their innovative and performance-oriented shapes, but also for their original and colourful graphics, which were influenced by new wave, hip-hop, reggae and punk. To promote his boards, he created graphic T-shirts with his last name in a unique handwriting: the now iconic Stussy logo. Frank Sinatra Jr. (no relation to the singer) saw the potential of Stussy as a clothing brand and convinced Shawn to start a company together. Soon Stussy Clothing the world, thanks to Shawn's unique graphics and forward-thinking items like baseball caps and varsity jackets, which until then were only seen on and around the sports field.
Stussy Tribe
When the brand established itself in New York in the early 90s, Stussy became a big name in the hip-hop scene in no time. The success meant money to travel the world. Shawn travelled the world for inspiration and to meet like-minded people. He set up Stussy Chapters in London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Paris. This is how Stussy grew from a small clothing brand into an international 'tribe' of like-minded creative minds. Since the Stussy Chapter Store in Amsterdam unfortunately no longer exists, you can buy Stussy in the Netherlands at Revert 95. Stussy is still doing its thing today and is still one of the leading streetwear labels. The Hundreds Founder Bobby Hundreds does not call Stussy 'the greatest streetwear brand of all time' for nothing.
