Girl skateboards has been one of the most popular brands in our shop for almost 20 years. The brand was founded in 1993 by skateboarders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll and filmmaker Spike Jonze. Girl became known for the creative skateboard films 'Mouse' and 'Yeah Right!' by Spike Jonze, who also made successful films in Hollywood with Being John Malkovich and Where the wild things are. Girl skaters like Eric Koston, Guy Mariano and Rick McCrank impressed with their creative, technical and stylish way of skating. This earned the Girl a large group of fanatical followers. Girl's skateboards and clothing are always recognisable by the creative, colourful graphics of artists like Andy Mueller (The Quiet Life), Andy Jenkins, Evan Hecox and Tony Larson. Girl is part of Girl Distribution, where shoe brand Lakai, Chocolate Skateboards, Royal Trucks and clothing brand Fourstar belong to. These five Californian companies form a large skateboarding family. For example, many Girl Skateboards team riders can be seen in Chocolate's videos and vice versa. Together, these brands also run a popular skateboarding blog: Crailtap.
