Hamilton Carhartt
Carhartt was founded by Hamilton Carhart. Little Hamilton was born in Macedon Lock, New York in 1855. He grew up in southern Michigan with the dream of becoming a successful businessman. He achieved this dream through a creative entrepreneurial spirit and a great deal of perseverance. His creative way of doing business is evident from, among other things, his change of name. To make sure his name would stand out among other businessmen, Hamilton added an extra "t" to his surname. But a distinctive name alone was not enough, he also wanted to stand out with unique products. After talking to a railway engineer, he designed overalls for railway workers, something no one had thought of before that time. In 1889, Carhartt started his eponymous clothing company with one goal in mind: to set a standard of quality that others could only dream of. Starting out with just four sewing machines, Carhartt at its peak had seventeen garment factories and three cotton mills. Thus, Carhartt clothes literally went "from the mill to millions". In 1937, Hamilton died at the age of 82, but his company lives on. Carhartt is still a family business that has the same mission as Hamilton had back then: to make clothes of the highest possible quality.
Carhartt WIP
More than a century after the company was founded, Carhartt crossed over to Europe in 1994. This move turned out to be a great success. Many European skateboarders, BMX enthusiasts, graffiti writers, and MCs were immediately attracted to Carhartt's authentic and super-tough clothing. In response to this success, Carhartt launched a specifically European line in 1997: Carhartt Work in Progress. With this line, the brand adds a European twist to its American workwear classics. Although Carhartt WIP clothing is adapted to the active life in the city, no concessions are made to the core values of the brand. Quality, durability and comfort remain the key principles.
Carhartt shop of the Netherlands
From the very first day we opened our doors in 1995, Carhartt clothing has been a fixture in our shop. At that time, Carhartt was only just becoming available in Europe, so you had to look hard to find an official Carhartt dealer. In 1997, Revert 95 was one of the few shops in the Netherlands that was allowed to stock the then brand new Carhartt WIP collection. We have never stopped selling and carrying Carhartt clothing and still have one of the largest collections in Europe. We always have the best shirts, jackets, jumpers, T-shirts and hats of this brand in stock. You can say that Revert 95 is still the Carhartt shop of the Netherlands.
