Pintail longboards are all-round longboards with a teardrop shape. The shape of pintail decks is inspired by classic surfboards, but is not only popular because of its cool retro style. The shape also offers specific advantages for longboarding. Because the relatively narrow nose and tail keep the wheels free, the chance of wheel bite is small, while the deck offers plenty of room for your feet. To reduce the risk of wheel bite to a minimum, many decks also feature cut-outs near the wheels. Pintail longboards are usually equipped with top mount trucks, which means that the trucks are mounted underneath the board instead of through it, as is the case with drop through longboards. This makes the board more direct and allows you to make more aggressive turns. The higher deck does make pintails slightly more unstable than, for example drop down longboardsAs a result, experienced downhillers often do not opt for a pintail as a downhill longboard. However, a pintail is a perfect choice for riders who like cruising, carving, fun and a classic surf look.
