Obey headwear can be ordered in our webshop or in our shop in Haarlem. Obey started in 1989 with one sticker of wrestler Andre the Giant, designed by street artist Shepard Fairey. In the 90s, Obey grew into a worldwide street art campaign. Obey's headwear serves as an alternative canvas for Shepard's work and allows him to spread his message to even more people. The most important message in his work is self-determination. By telling people in a sarcastic way to obey, Obey wants to encourage people to take their lives in their own hands. To do so, Shepard draws on the iconography of popular culture, commercial marketing and political propaganda. Shepard's logos, graphics and prints reappear in many different forms on Obey caps, snapbacks, 5-panels, beanies and hats. The famous Andre the Giant logo, which started it all, is also part of our large headwear collection.
