You can find different longboard wheels online at Revert 95. Longboard wheels are just like skateboard wheels made of the petrochemical material polyurethane. Not so long ago, skate wheels were still made of rubber, plastic, clay or even metal, but luckily those days are over. Polyurethane is a great material. It is both bouncy and grippy and is produced in all kinds of cool colours. Although almost all longboard wheels are made of the same material, there are big differences. The first thing to look at is the size, or diameter. In general, a larger wheel is faster, while a smaller wheel accelerates faster. In addition, a larger wheel rolls over bumps much more easily than a small wheel. Another important factor is grip. This is largely determined by the contact area, the part of the wheel that makes contact with the road. A wider contact area provides more grip, but makes it more difficult to make fat slides. The hardness (durometer) of the wheels also determines how much grip you will have. A soft wheel has more grip on rough surfaces and loses its grip more gradually. Hard wheels are faster and slide harder, but are more difficult to control. Many longboarders want wheels that provide good grip and slide fat. Unfortunately, these ideal longboard wheels do not yet exist, so you will have to make a choice. For freeriding and sliding, it is important that you choose a wheel that gradually loses its grip, rather than one that stays in grip for a long time and then suddenly slips. Because control and grip are essential when downhilling, wheels made of downhill longboards larger (70-80 mm) and have a wider contact area.
